About Us

Texas Breaking News

Real-time news aggregation from across the Lone Star State — curated, categorized, and delivered by place.

What We Do

Texas Breaking News is a statewide news aggregator that monitors 30+ local Texas newsrooms, TV stations, and wire services in real time. When a story breaks — a tornado in Amarillo, a legislative vote in Austin, a major accident on I-35 — we surface it within minutes, tagged by region and category so you can find what matters where you live.

We are not a newsroom. We do not report original stories. Our mission is to make it easier to find the journalism that local reporters are already doing, by pulling it all into one place and organizing it intelligently.

Coverage

We cover all ten major Texas regions:

  • Hill Country
  • Austin
  • Houston
  • Dallas-Fort Worth
  • San Antonio
  • El Paso
  • Coastal Bend
  • East Texas
  • Panhandle
  • Border Region

Every story is geo-tagged to its region and categorized by topic: Politics, Crime, Weather, Business, Sports, Energy, Education, Health, and more.

How It Works

Our feed scheduler checks sources continuously and normalizes each article into a standard shape — headline, summary, source, region, category, and timestamp. AI-assisted summaries help you understand the story at a glance without leaving our site. Clicking through always takes you to the original newsroom that reported it.

Our Sources

We draw from local newspapers, TV station websites, public radio, wire services, and government press releases. Every article credits its source newsroom. We believe in supporting local journalism, not replacing it.

Breaking vs. Pinned

Stories marked BREAKING are actively developing. Our editorial team pins the highest-priority stories at the top of the Breaking page. Pinned status is manually reviewed and cleared when a story is no longer developing.
