Blue wave takes Wilco in 2026 general election For the first time in over 30 years, a blue wave rolled through Texas on Tuesday, flipping the state from GOP dominance to Democratic control and astounding even the most politically savvy.
From the top of the ballot to the bottom, the Nov. 3 General Election brought national attention to Texas due to the hotly contested U.S. Senate race between long-time politician and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican, and his Democrat challenger state Rep. James Talarico of Austin.
Talarico swept the race with 55% of the votes.
