LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The 29th annual Camp Amistad brought together children who share a common bond through their treatment at UMC's Burn Center.

The camp is a partnership between UMC and Lubbock Fire Rescue.

Kids met at the YWCA on Saturday for swimming, lunch, snowcones and other summer activities."Going through a burn is a really hard injury, and it affects every aspect of your life and for these burn survivors to come out and be with other burn survivors is really relieving for them, and it's so great to see the younger burn survivors really connect with older burn survivors and see how life progresses after being burned," said Andrew Palomin, executive assistant for UMC Health System.
