The Bangs Dragons were unable to keep pace with Haskell in Week 2, but look to return to the win column on homecoming night Friday, but the Cross Plains Buffaloes stand in the way.

Kickoff between Bangs (1-1) and Cross Plains (1-1) is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Dragon Memorial Stadium as each team looks to rebound from its initial setback of the 2026 season.

Reflecting on last week's 62-44 loss to the Haskell Indians, Bangs third-year head coach Colton Buzzard said, "Hats off to Haskell, they have a heck of a football team. Their quarterback, Haegen Pinkerton, he's a heck of an athlete. It was really hard to contain him Friday night, but I'm really proud of our guys for never giving up. At one point we were down 50-20 and to keep fighting and put up 44 points is a testament to our never give up attitude. We had a lot of yards and moved the ball well, but we did have three turnovers and that's unacceptable. You can't put the ball on the ground, you can't turn the ball over to a good team like Haskell. They took advantage of it and scored off those turnovers. Any time you can limit turnovers and do what we do offensively, we're going to have a lot of success. That's my challenge this week, take care of the turnovers and we'll be all right." The Dragons surrendered 241 passing yards and five touchdowns, along with 254 rushing yards and three more quarterback to Haskell quarterback Haegen Pinkerton alone, after yielding just 209 total yards - 126 through the air and 83 on the ground - in their 42-7 season-opening win against Dublin.
