Credit: Facebook / San Antonio Police Department San Antonio City Council on Thursday voted unanimously to confirm Jesse Salame Jr. as the city's new chief of police, marking the first time an Alamo City native has permanently held the role in more than 20 years.

City Manager Erik Walsh appointed Salame, a 27-year SAPD veteran, to lead the force after previous chief William McManus retired this summer.
